MANGO — a sweet, juicy tropical fruit with a large flat pit and orange-yellow flesh. Two vowels and no repeated letters made this a fairly friendly solve, though the uncommon O ending threw off a few solvers.

The repeated E — once right after the B, once at the very end — tripped up most solvers, since landing on the letter once didn't reveal it belonged in two spots.

Best starting words & strategy tips
A good opener does most of the heavy lifting before you've even seen the board.
Pairs three high-frequency consonants (S, L, T) with the two most common vowels (A, E) — consistently ranks among the strongest openers.Top pick
Mixes C, R, and N with A and E; R alone shows up in a large share of Wordle answers, making this a strong diagnostic guess.
Covers R, S, and three vowels at once, giving broad early coverage of both consonants and vowel placement.
Tests four of the five vowels in one guess — weak on consonants, but often clears out a large chunk of the word list instantly.
Quick strategy tips
- Open with coverage, not a guess. Test common vowels and consonants together rather than trying to guess the word on row one.
- Never reuse a grey letter. Once a tile goes grey, that letter isn't in the word — using it again wastes a turn.
- Move yellow letters to a new spot. A yellow tile means right letter, wrong place — try it somewhere else next guess.
- Think in word endings. Patterns like -IGHT, -ATCH, or -OUND can close in on the answer faster than guessing letter by letter.
- Use a splitting guess when stuck. If two words could both fit, pick the guess that best tells them apart — even if it isn't your final answer.
How Wordle works
Guess a five-letter word
Any valid English word works as an opener — one that tests common letters gives you the most information.
Read the colors
Each letter turns green, yellow, or grey depending on how close it is to the answer.
Refine and repeat
Carry green letters forward, reposition the near-misses, and drop grey ones entirely.
Six tries, one word a day
Everyone worldwide gets the same puzzle, which resets at midnight in your local time zone.
What the colors mean
Green
Correct letter, correct spot.
Yellow
Right letter, wrong spot — move it next guess.
Grey
Not in the word — don't use it again.

Opened with a standard high-coverage starter and picked up both vowels early, a nice break after a run of consonant-heavy days.
Once M up front and O at the end were confirmed, the shape M _ _ _ O pointed toward a small family of words. The second letter A locked it into M A _ _ O, and MANGO clicked once N and G fell into place.
If you're stuck on a similar shape in future, remember that words ending in O are rarer than most — it's worth testing that ending directly instead of assuming a more common letter.
